Parahyangan Catholic University Choir

Founded in 1962 as a student choir, Parahyangan Catholic University Choir has been proving their existence as a one of the best choir in the world today. Their international accomplishment was initially achieved in The Nederland International Choir Festival, Arnhem in 1995. And then succesfully reiterated in Concorso Polifonico Internationale “Guido d’Arezzo”, Italy in 1997, 1st Choir Olympics in Linz, Austria in 2000, The 8^th International Chamber Choir Competition, Marktoberdorf, Germany in 2003, and recently in 45^th International Competition of Choral Singing 2008, Spittal an der Drau, Austria.

Background

With their international acknowledgement, Parahyangan Catholic University Choir has shown a great contribution to classical music appreciation in Indonesia. Being a leader in choral music, it is their commitment and responsibility to maintain and develop it through a national choir competition. Since the year of 2001, a prestigious choral competition previously known as Unpar Choir Competition was successfully held in every other year with high international competitive standards. As there is a considerable progress of choirs both in quality and quantity, it really encouraged them to bring it further to the next level in 1^st Parahyangan International Chamber Choir Competition 2009.
